Amanda Brugel

Pointe Claire resides in a quiet area of Montreal Island known as West Island. It is the West Island, to those not familiar with it, is a large region that runs from Lachine to the west. Amanda Brugel's birthplace has been frequently mentioned, but her brief visit to the West Island was not. Brugel was raised on Courtice just outside Oshawa within Ontario. In her early years she wanted to be a performer but an unexpected expansion of her body made it impossible. In an article published in the Toronto Star she admitted In heels, I'm 6 feet one inch. Many former dancers turn to acting and in the case of Brugel, it was a suggestion from the drama instructor at her high school which encouraged her to go in that direction. The teacher suggested she try to get a role for school's annual production. It was her choice to take on the lead character for Anne of Green Gables after she auditioned for. The show led her to receive an Fine Arts Talent Scholarship from York University. In 2000 she graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts at York University. For the last twenty years, Brugel's work been seen on the large and small screen. Her work gained most attention when she won her role as Rita on the award-winning TV series The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel was the only Canadian actor for Season 1 of the series, and not seen much.
